Drive For Uber or Lyft in Virginia?

By February 9, 2023Insurance

If you drive for Uber or Lyft in Virginia make sure you contact your auto insurance carrier or independent agent before you set out.

While these ride-sharing companies provide insurance there are “gaps” in coverage that need addressing. That’s why personal auto insurance carriers have endorsements available to complete your coverage to protect against potential risks.

You’ll also need to verify with your ride-sharing company about what underlying limits are required on your personal auto policy. They typically require more than the state minimum amount of coverage.

Failure to notify your personal auto insurance carrier of ride-sharing exposure can create problems, including policy cancellation.

It’s important to note that not all insurance companies offer ride-sharing endorsements.
